Maggie found the Nike running shoe that my daughter wanted in the right color & despite delays from the Nike warehouse, her persistence worked and she eventually got the running shoe. The first pair that was sent was the wrong color and upon reorder she kept me updated daily on the progress of the order. Even though she was dealing with a challenging supplier in Nike, Whirlaway & Maggie were a pleasure to do business with. She even provided us with a discount knowing the delays we encountered – none of which were her fault.”

“I was very impressed with this store. I went for Lock Laces brand shoe laces as I greatly dislike tieing shoes. My podiatrist currently has me in a lace-up pair for the next few months. I found the website for Lock Laces and they pointed me to Whirlaway as a local merchant that carries them. When I arrived it looked like a driving range with a pro shop, but the selection and size of the store was large and well stocked. The lower floor focuses on golfing and accessories while the upper floor has many other sporting products. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and showed me to my laces.

While I was there a lady purchasing new running shoes was given a full foot analysis, arch measurement, pronation evaluation and recommendation of shoes based on this and the way she walked. I was impressed with the selection of clothing, accessories and sports equipment in this store along with the knowledgeable and helpful staff. The prices were in line with any other mall store like Olympia or Foot Locker and they had some great sales on sneakers and a clearance clothing rack I noticed as I was walking by.”

“This review is long overdue. I have only been a “runner’s enabler” for the past year. These guys were wonderful at analyzing gait and finding the perfect fitting kicks. They have a vast amount of knowledge from getting you started to where the good local runs are. I try to support local business where I can- these guys make it easy. They are the whole package: knowledge, support and product you need all at a fair price. Get on their email list; they are great about alerting you on special promos and sales. “Last night I attended a Komen 3-Day shoe clinic at Whirlaway Sports and the attention we received from Dave and Maggie and all the staff was phenomenal! The clinic followed a short training walk that Dave had marked out for us with arrows on the route; he even met us halfway with water and sports drink! Very thoughtful of him.

There were about 6 or 7 3-day participants at the clinic, some first timers. Dave and Maggie talked about proper hydration, footwear, other clothing and gear. Then for those of us who wanted to be fitted for shoes (I think we all did!) they did a very thorough job of first taking a good look at our feet and gait, and then did an assessment of the type of shoe that’s best for us–do we toe in, roll out, have high arches, wide feet?

I tried several styles of a moderate stability running shoe (endurance/long distance walkers should wear a running shoe we learned) and made my selection. All of us who participated in the clinic received a $10 gift card, a discount on our shoes, free socks and t-shirt, water bottle, and several samples of GU.

The staff here is knowledgeable and friendly and the shop has an astonishing assortment of clothing for all kinds of sports. The first floor is devoted to golfing and there is a driving range next door. Upstairs you’ll find a huge assortment of shoes for many sports and activities–wrestling, track, and baseball and cheerleading, you name it. And lots of clothing for men, women, kids. Awesome. I like patronizing this type of family run business that offers such great personal service.”
